چکیده
Information-centric networking (ICN) and its fruition, the named data (NDN) is a paradigm shift from host-centric address-based communication architecture to content-centric name-based one. ICN intends resolve various major issues faced by today’s internet such as privacy, security, consistent routing, mobility, name few. With massive increase of mobile traffic in era, mobility one concerns networking. On hand, realization i.e., NDN follows pull-based model natively supports consumer (end-user) wired networks maintaining forwarding states on intermediate nodes. Nevertheless, nodes confront wireless environments excessive energy consumption result request flooding, content retrieval delays due intermittent connectivity, bandwidth broadcasting nature medium, among others. The producer (content-generator) other was not initially supported original architectural design for both networks. Therefore, efficiently address degradation incurred consumer/producer nodes, plethora management schemes have been proposed over recent few years. In this paper, we provided detailed survey existing research efforts—in context well that literature. Moreover, outlined directions considering role futuristic technologies artificial intelligence-enabled smart networks, edge computing, software-defined networking, vehicular-fog autonomous driving, resource-constrained Internet Things.

Information-Centric Networking based Caching and Naming Schemes for Internet of Things: A Survey and Future Research Directions
Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is being realized as a promising approach to accomplish the shortcomings of current IP-address based networking. ICN models are based on naming the content to get rid of address-space scarcity, accessing the content via name-based-routing, caching the content at intermediate nodes to provide reliable, efficient data delivery and self-certifying contents to e...

متن کاملSimulating Opportunistic Networks: Survey and Future Directions
Simulation is one of the most powerful tools we have for evaluating the performance of Opportunistic Networks. In this survey, we focus on available tools and models, compare their performance and precision and experimentally show the scalability of different simulators. We also perform a gap analysis of state-of-the-art Opportunistic Network simulations and sketch out possible further developm...
متن کاملFuture Directions for Mobile-Agent Research
During a discussion in September 2000 the authors examined the future of research on mobile agents and mobile code. (A mobile agent is a running program that can move from host to host in network at times and to places of its own choosing.) In this paper we summarize and reflect on that discussion. It became clear that the field should shift its emphasis toward mobile code, in all its forms, ra...
